Saturday’s racing selections from Sandown, Wetherby and Musselburgh

The Wine Tipster RacingNeil Phillips AKA The Wine Tipster has come up with his Saturday ITV and Racing UK selections for Sandown, Wetherby and Musselburgh.

What a weekend ahead for Cheltenham Festival clues, with an impressive card at Sandown, the start of the Musselburgh two day Bet365 Scottish Cheltenham Trials Weekend and the Dublin Festival at Leopardstown.

1.50 Sandown

Buveur D’Air is currently 1/12 on so not a race for betting purposes, however the 2017 Champion Hurdle winner  (tipped by The Wine Tipster) is having his final prep race ahead of the Cheltenham Festival in March.

He has been most impressive on his two starts this season, particularly when comfortably beating The New One in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton.

2.05 Musselburgh

Sir Chauvelin will be a warm order to score a local success for the Jim Goldie team and hold off the challenge of Amour De Nuit ridden by the jockey of the moment Bryony Frost.

Sir Chauvelin scored here in fine style on his last start over today’s trip beating the favourite Silver Concorde when just having to be pushed out.

That was his third win over hurdles and he looks a progressive type.

2.25 Sandown

A fascinating renewal of the Betfred TV Scilly Isles Novices’ Chase with Cyrname the preference ahead of Terrefort.

Cyrname jumped in great style at Kempton’s Winter Festival beating Shantou Rock by seven lengths, with Tommy Silver in third.

The Wine Tipster was presenting on that occasion and you couldn’t have failed to be impressed.

2.40 Wetherby

Captain Chaos can score a three-timer for the Dan Skelton team, who have had the Totesport.Com Novices’ Chase as a target for their charge.

Captain Chaos won over course and distance here on his last start in November when giving seven pounds to Three Ways and delivering a strong jumping performance.

This followed an easy victory at Aintree in November when beating Coastal Tiep, easily drawing clear on the run-in.

3.00 Sandown

Topofthegame (nap) made a good return to hurdling after falling on his chasing debut, finishing fourth to William Henry in a hot Lanzarote Hurdle at Kempton.

He looks sure to build on that performance this afternoon, with the course, conditions and trip looking sure to be in his favour.

Buywise came right back to form when winning the Veterans ‘ Chase here and has to be the each-way play on his return to hurdling.

3.15 Musselburgh

Byrony Frost can take another big Saturday race in the bet365 Edinburgh National Handicap Chase on Southfield Theatre, who may not have the most impressive form figures, yet has some class and has been given a chance by the handicapper of a mark of 139.

Byrony Frost has a real talent for getting some of these chasers in a smooth jumping rhythm and she rides this ten-year-old for the first time on good to soft, which is sure to suit Southfield Theatre.

3.35 Sandown

Shanroe Santos is a double figure price in a typically competitive Betfred Masters Handicap Chase and looks good value to follow up his course and distance win last March.

The Wine Tipster backed Shanroe Santos each-way two starts ago at Cheltenham, when he ran well to finish runner-up to Robinsfirth, ahead of delivering another good performance behind Vinnie Lewis in testing conditions at Plumpton.

Vino Griego cannot be dismissed at a big price and has to be an each-way bet.
