Coffee

The Wine Tipster ProfileAway from wine and horse racing Neil is the complete coffee enthusiast, who, on graduating, shared a house with a group of Italians, who introduced The Wine Tipster to espresso, the Moka pot and their passion for good coffee. Then Neil worked for an Italian company, who started their day in Bar Italia, the famous coffee bar in Soho and then years later Neil was introduced to the world of Nespresso. Fascinated by the different styles of Nespresso Grand Cru coffees and the parallels with wine in terms of the coffee cherry and the grape The Wine Tipster took the opportunity to approach Nespresso and has attended several of their Nespresso Coffee Sommelier ™ courses in Switzerland.

Since 2013, Neil has been a Nespresso Coffee Sommelier ™  as part of their Connoisseur Club member sessions held in their boutiques in Edinburgh, Manchester, London and Bluewater. These sessions show by understanding our senses – there are over 800 plus different identifiable aromas with coffee – how we can enhance our coffee drinking experience. At the end of the sessions we taste three of the Nespresso Grand Cru coffees using their cuppa spoon with different intensities of Nespresso Grand Cru coffees and a range of contrasting chocolates. You soon realise that it isn’t just wine and port that goes with chocolate!

Neil also runs Nespresso sessions at V.I.P events and in 2014 Nespresso was one of the key sponsors of the Ryder Cup. Also, luckily for The Wine Tipster, he will  attend some new sessions in Switzerland.
